Tallahassee Music Week Announces 2016 Dates and Partners

Tallahassee Music Week 2016 will be held from Saturday, April 2nd to Sunday, April 10th and will feature more than 100 performances by local artists in more than 50 locations throughout Tallahassee. Most events will be free and open to the public.

The TMW 2016 kickoff concert — held in partnership with Springtime Tallahassee — will be from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 2nd on Adams St., in front of City Hall. The concert is a first-time collaboration between Springtime Tallahassee and Tallahassee Music Week and will feature a diverse selection of Tallahassee’s finest musicians.

Over the next nine days, TMW 2016 performances will occur in dozens of locations throughout the city — from a virtuoso string quartet in a grocery store, to a jazz legend performing at a popular nightclub, to a folk band at a downtown park. Then, on April 9th and 10th, Tallahassee Music Week will pass the baton to the Word of South Festival, an independent music-literary event which will mark TMW’s grand finale.

“Last year’s inaugural Tallahassee Music Week was a tremendous success and we’re proud to offer it again for 2016,” said Rick Minor, President of Tallahassee Music Week, Inc. “This year will be even better, as our partnerships with Springtime Tallahassee, Word of South, WTXL ABC27 and the Tallahassee Democrat provide even more opportunities to showcase the exceptional talent and diversity of our local musicians.”

In addition, TMW will collaborate with its media partners, WTXL ABC27 and the Tallahassee Democrat, to promote the event schedule and provide information about musicians and venues.

Tallahassee Music Week 2016 has been made possible with the generous support of its community Foundation for Leon County Schools, the Council on Culture & Arts, the Word of South Festival, Springtime Tallahassee, WTXL ABC27, the Tallahassee Democrat, the FSU College of Music, the Tallahassee Downtown Improvement Authority, and the Knight Creative Communities Institute.

Tallahassee Music Week, Inc. continues to seek community sponsors and partners for its 2016 events. For more information about sponsoring opportunities, please contact Rick Minor at [email protected].
