Tallahassee Works To Further Its Sense of Place

Last week, Commissioners approved a sense of place work plan to improve parking and connect the city’s districts. Beginning in 2016, this plan outlines updates to eight areas around the city including:

  • Gaines Street
  • Midtown
  • Monroe-Adams Corridor
  • Market District
  • North Florida Fairgrounds
  • College Avenue
  • Orange Avenue/Meridian Road
  • Lake Jackson Town Center at Huntington
  • Miccosukee Rural Community Sense of Place

These plans will work to meet the city’s parking needs in areas like Midtown and Gaines Street, allowing more accessibility to those areas. Signage will identify areas of public interest downtown, and efforts will be made to increase walkability and pedestrian safety.
