New Community Catalyst Class Kicks Off

KCCI’s 2017 Catalyst Class officially began Tuesday, January. 21 with a two-day, intensive training session for the 12 diverse community volunteers that make up this year’s class. With the involvement of dozens of community leaders, the training covered everything from Tallahassee’s economic vitality, growth and economic development plans and Visit Tallahassee’s iHeartTally background to lessons learned from past Catalyst teams and establishing healthy team dynamics.

New this year, the team took an Urban Safari of SOMO and Downtown to see for themselves potential locations for their project. They ended with a unique, “Pop Up” dinner in Lewis Park with guest speakers and networking at the Chamber of Commerce. Day two, they embarked on a trolley tour of Tallahassee’s best examples of “placemaking,” most of which involved past KCCI projects.

Special appreciation goes to KCCI’s visionary sponsors and the following experts for making this 2017 class and training possible: Steve Evans, Ed Murray, Cherie Bryant, Autumn Calder, Paige Carter-Smith, Tom Derzypolski, Rebekah Dorn, Alison Faris, Bryon Green, Brad Johnson, Devan Levins, Lauren Pace, Kerri Post, Carlos Ray, Jay Revell, Jenay Sermon, Alyce Lee Stansbury, Allie Vanlandingham and Melissa VanSickle..
