Tallahassee Beautification Project Paints a Bright Future

KCCI was excited to be part of Thursday’s beautification project downtown. KCCI Executive Director Betsy Couch started the morning speaking with the OASIS “Girls Can Do Anything” campers about the importance of volunteerism and how they too can be part of social change.

Then, the young ladies were greeted in downtown by KCCI Community Catalyst Abena Ojetayo with the City of Tallahassee and Elizabeth Emmanuel, executive director for the Downtown Improvement Authority.

Lemoyne Board Member, Stephanie Whitfield, guided the young ladies in a beautification mural project where they were able to transform a bland and often graffitied retaining wall into a vibrant work of art in the downtown Food Truck Court, located at 425 S. Borough Street.

The project was a collaboration between the City of Tallahassee, Downtown Improvement Authority, KCCI, Lemoyne and OASIS.

The collaboration was definitely proof that “Girls Can Do Anything” and enhance sense of place and the community while they are at it!
