KCCI & Leon County’s Commitment to Excellence Recognized by NACo AWARD for Artistic Crosswalks

KCCI and Leon County’s Crosswalks to Classroom’s project of 3 raised, artistic crosswalks on Dempsey Mayo road won “Best in Category” for the arts, culture, and historic preservation award for addressing significant pedestrian traffic and safety issues in a high-traffic area, where daily vehicle counts are expected to rise from 3,000 to 7,500 by 2030. The project pioneered the use of durable thermoplastic crosswalk designs under the initiative.

The NACo Achievement Awards honor exceptional county government programs and services. These national awards are given annually to notable programs through an application process, spanning 18 categories that encompass a wide variety of county duties.

Congratulations to KCCI’s 2023 Crosswalks to Classrooms Catalyst Team, Leon County Government, AARP, Westminster Oaks, and our crosswalk partners for this amazing accomplishment! To read more about the award, click here.
