Calhoun Street Lighting Project
The Calhoun Street Bridge will shine brighter in the future thanks to a unanimous vote by the Downtown CRA, which consists of the City Commissioners and Mayor, The Calhoun Street Bridge shines brighter today.
This upgrade will illuminate downtown’s 2nd most popular parking garage and the pedestrian bridge, making downtown safer, brighter, and more inviting.
This means:
• Safer nights for pedestrians on Calhoun St. (4,764 vehicles/day)
• Bold placemaking that welcomes everyone
• Smart savings
• Creates a more walkable, pedestrian-friendly intersection.
Currently the space looks like the following and is dark at night.

With tonight’s vote, this project should be in place by August 2026. This project is part of the 2025 KCCI Community Catalyst group’s focus to improve place in Downtown Tallahassee.
