Mayor John Dailey was elected to serve the citizens of Tallahassee in 2018. Before that, he was a Leon County Commissioner for 12 years. Commissioner Dailey has had public service in his sights his entire life. As the son of Dr. John Scott Dailey, the former Executive Director of the Florida Institute of Government and a former two-term Leon County School Board member, John could not have had a better role model to learn the value of just how effective quality leadership in government could be for our community.
John began his professional career at the Florida League of Cities where he worked on legislative and regulatory issues involving local governance. In 2001, he went to work for the National League of Cities in Washington, DC, where he gained a comprehensive understanding of the issues facing local governments; issues as diverse as economic development and community redevelopment to criminal justice and public safety.
