Enhancing Tallahassee’s Community Spaces: KCCI 2025 Catalyst Team in Action

The 2025 KCCI Community Catalyst team is working to enhance placemaking and connectivity in downtown Tallahassee by creating a project that fosters vibrant public spaces, improves walkability, and strengthens community ties. The team also aims to celebrate Bicentennial Square as park elements are installed, creating an engaging environment that encourages social interaction, and provides accessible pathways that link downtown to surrounding businesses and neighborhoods. Through thoughtful design, the team’s projects contribute to a more connected, inclusive, and dynamic urban experience.

In partnership with Leon County Government, the team’s first big enhancement to downtown includes a series of three artistic crosswalks and surrounding infrastructure improvements that will help safely guide users of the popular parking garage up to the Courthouse and ultimately toward Bicentennial Square. Stay tuned for more details and if you follow KCCI on Instagram you can meet the artist that was selected! A special thanks to the Leon County Board of County Commissioners, the Community Foundation of North Florida Knight Foundation fund and KCCI community partners in making these efforts possible.

These projects highlight the power of community collaboration and thoughtful design in creating vibrant, inclusive spaces.
