The first of three outdoor book trails got its ribbon-cutting on Thursday, Aug. 25 at Leon County’s Eastside Library. Similar trails will open next month at the Woodville Park and Recreation Center and Fort Braden Library Branch.
KCCI, Leon County Government, and the Friends of the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library unveiled the first installment of the Fully Booked placemaking project at Pedrick Pond Park outside the Leon County Eastside Branch Library on Aug. 25.
The Red Hills Rhythm volunteer Community Catalyst team officially unveiled the park Wednesday at Coal Chute Pond Park, part of the Capital Cascades Trail. The area includes multiple musical percussion instruments free to the public.

Before the end of this year, a new attraction is set to open in the park next door to Leon County's Eastside branch library. The project was chosen by this year's community catalyst team organized by the Knight Creative Communities Institute.
