Placemaking Week 2024 consisted of free community-building events.

Lend A Hand for Veterans & Students

Monday, Sept. 23 & Tuesday, Sept. 24

Location | Gilchrist Elementary School

As part of VyStar Credit Union’s Good is everywhere campaign and KCCI’s Placemaking Week, volunteers lent a hand to improve seating and sense of place at the school for Gilchrist students and the Veterans that visit. Gilchrist Elementary School is Leon County School’s largest elementary school with more than 900 students. To honor the area’s Veterans, GES annually hosts a Veterans Day parade and assembly where the students cheer on Veterans during the heartfelt school parade. Thank you to VyStar Credit Union for making this Placemaking Week project possible. We also appreciate the support of Gilchrist’s parent teacher organization.

Good is everywhere mural

Tuesday, Sept. 24

Location | Gilchrist Elementary School

Art students and VyStar Credit Union employees joined artist Vardyce Gaines in creating a patriotic mural. Vardyce is an experienced graphic designer and artist with more than 15 years of professional experience in art design, mural design and painting, art instruction, illustration, marketing and advertising prints, social media design, and professional digital design. For more information about Vardyce, click here.

This is part of KCCI sponsor VyStar Credit Union’s 3rd annual Good is everywhere celebration. Thank you to VyStar for making this Placemaking Week project possible.
