Activating Spaces | Placemaking | Community Conversations

Working with community partners, KCCI organized an engaging two weeks of hands-on community building and improvement events, tours, and networking events, all designed to enhance sense of place in Tallahassee. The events were FREE to the public.

Good Things Grow Here Mural Unveiling

Saturday, September 27

Placemaking | Beautification | Community-Building | Camaraderie

It was a jolly time at the Good Things Grow here mural unveiling. Many came out to celebrate Tallahassee’s newest mural painted by local artist Andy Steinbrink, and made possible by First Commerce Credit Union and the KCCI 2025 Community Catalyst class, Hartsfield Construction, DAG Architects, Eppes Decorating Center, and Becovic Management Group.

Guest were part of the action by adding beautiful sidewalk chalk art leading from the mural to Cascades Park. Neighborhing Argonaut Coffee offered a fall drink in the colors of the mural. From little kids to active living seniors there was fun for all.

Community Bike Ride

Saturday, Kick-Off
Placemaking Week kicked off on Saturday, Sept 13th with the community bike ride where dozens came out to explore the Miccosukee Greenway and learn more about the parks in Leon County. Old friends reconnected and new friends were made.

Tuesday, September 16

More than 30 people met up on a beautiful Tuesday morning for the downtown art and history tour and to learn about future enhancements in downtown. Thank you to all of the incredible speakers and to Capital City Bank and Ausley Law Firm for hosting the breakfast and coffee before the tour began. It was a morning of discovery and conversation as we all explored hidden artistic gems in downtown, and heard about exciting upcoming improvement projects.

KCCI September Showcase

Thursday, September 18, 2025

On Thursday a little more than 70 people stopped in to celebrate the 2025 KCCI Community Catalyst team and to hear about next year’s project. The application opened to apply to be a 2026 KCCI Community Catalyst, which you can learn more here. The event was hosted at Hayward House, a newer downtown restaurant, and showcased Tallahassee’s newest downtown improvements made possible by the KCCI Community Catalyst team. Fast Forward Tallahassee

On Wednesday, Sept. 24th more than 100 people came to The Village Square’s Fast Forward event at the Challenger to learn about the future happenings in Tallahassee. KCCI Community Catalysts Betsy Couch, Vicki Bradley, Ed Murray and Alan Hanstein all served as speakers. Guests enjoyed the highlights of many different ideas and projects through visual storytelling. More details can be found at To the Village Square and in the Tallahassee Democrat coverage.
